# Translating Articles

Supporting customers in multiple languages? You'll want to translate your articles so they're available in your customers' preferred language.

Articles must be published in your **default language** before they'll show up as a translated article. Learn more about default and secondary languages [over here](/article/NjjPixGLuy-translating-your-docs).

### Translating Articles

Ready to get started? Here's how to translate your articles:

1. Switch to the language you'd like to edit using the left navigation
2. Select the article you'd like to translate (untranslated articles have a ![World icon](https://files.helpdocs.io/Ytt2uahFxY/articles/h7v4sf98br/1759925125831/translation-icon.svg) `Needs translation` badge)
3. Translate the article and click **Save** to save your changes
4. Once ready, change the status to ![Green checkmark icon](https://files.helpdocs.io/Ytt2uahFxY/articles/h7v4sf98br/1759924721244/complete-icon.svg)`Complete`
5. Hit **Save** to apply the status update
6. Hit **Publish** to add it as a published version which makes it public

The [article publish status](/article/oJI0ylcwEC-understanding-article-statuses) is carried over from the default language's status.
