# Understanding Clips

Need to use the same text or HTML in multiple articles? Clips has you covered. Let's take a look to see how it works.

**Static** Clips insert content once and don't update with future changes. **Dynamic** Clips update everywhere when you edit the original Clip.

### Accessing Clips

1. Find Clips in the sidebar under **Clips** (or [click here](https://support.helpdocs.io/app/clips))
2. Select any Clip from the list

That's it!

### Synced Clips

Managing multiple HelpDocs accounts? Synced Clips let you maintain content across them efficiently.

With Synced Clips, your primary account manages the clips while secondary accounts can use them without editing rights.

![Clips managed by support.helpdocs.io.](https://files.helpdocs.io/Ytt2uahFxY/articles/m27mmeeghp/1746538024943/synced-clips.png)

When you edit a Synced Clip in your primary account, changes automatically appear in all secondary accounts—saving tons of time when managing multiple Knowledge Bases 🙌

This works perfectly for teams managing multiple brands or products that share common support content but need separate Knowledge Bases.

To enable Synced Clips, [send us an email](mailto:hi@helpdocs.io?subject=Synced%20Clips&body=Hey%21%20I%27d%20like%20to%20sync%20clips%20between%20my%20primary%20and%20secondary%20account%3A%0D%0A%0D%0APrimary%20URL%3A%0D%0ASecondary%20URL%3A%0D%0A%0D%0AThanks%21).

### When to Use Clips

Clips are perfect for several scenarios:

1. **Complex HTML blocks**
Save complicated [HTML blocks](/article/7ogotuxka7-adding-a-html-block) you use frequently without recreating them each time.
2. **Article templates**
Create templates for FAQs or other standardized content you make regularly.
3. **Reusable content sections**
With Dynamic Clips, update content in one place and see changes everywhere it's used—ideal for banners, contact information, web forms, and more.

Name your Clips with clear prefixes like **TEMPLATE:** or **SECTION:** to easily identify their purpose.
