# Understanding AI Credits

AI credits are the currency that powers HelpDocs' AI features. Each account gets a monthly credit allowance that lets you generate new articles, create meta information, and rewrite existing content. Different features consume varying amounts of credits.

Your available AI credits depend on your subscription plan, and they automatically refresh monthly ✨

Different AI operations require different amounts of credits. Here's what you can expect:

### Understanding Your Credit Allowance

Your monthly AI credit allowance is determined by your HelpDocs subscription plan. You can view your current credit balance:

1. Head to **Settings** > **AI**
2. Scroll down to **Usage**
3. Your Usage table includes your monthly credit limit (and in how many days it resets), credits you've used this month, and total credits remaining

Your AI credits automatically refresh each month. Any unused credits from the previous month won't roll over, so don't be shy about using them ✨
