Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets you connect ChatGPT to your HelpDocs account so it can read, search, and work with your Knowledge Base content directly. This guide shows you how to set up the connection with ChatGPT and what you can do with it.

Only workspace admins or owners can do this if on a ChatGPT Business plan.
You'll need to enable Developer mode to enable this integration.

What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a way for AI assistants like ChatGPT to connect to external tools and data sources. It gives ChatGPT the ability to interact with your HelpDocs content in real-time.

Learn more over in our overview of MCP article.

  2. Go to Workspace settingsAppsCreate

    Name: HelpDocs
Description: Search, retrieve, and create content from our HelpDocs knowledge base
    Authentication: OAuth

What You Can Ask ChatGPT to Do

With the HelpDocs MCP connector set up, you can ask ChatGPT to help with all sorts of Knowledge Base tasks. Here are some examples:

Search my helpdocs articles for x
Have we covered topic x yet in our helpdocs for our product launch?
Create a new article in helpdocs called x. It should be about x, y, and z

The more specific you are with your requests, the better ChatGPT can help you manage and improve your Knowledge Base content.
