Available for: Everyone · Help article →
A customer asks your support bot a question. The bot goes to your help center, pulls the article, and reads about 114KB of HTML to find roughly 4KB of actual answer. It usually gets there. It just burns most of what it can hold on markup to do it.
We've now made the process super easy: every HelpDocs article can now have a Markdown version.

Add .md to any article URL and you get the article as clean Markdown, with the right content type on it. Every knowledge base also has access to enable llms.txt at the root, listing your articles so an agent can see what you have instead of guessing URLs.
Both are available now, on every plan. Just enable them in Settings > AI (or click here).
How this helps you day to day
- Your support bot reads the article, not the page scaffolding. Navigation, scripts and styling stop eating the context window, so more of what it reads is your actual content.
- Agents can find out what you have. llms.txt is a plain list of your articles. An agent that reads it first stops guessing at URLs and stops missing articles that are not linked from the page it landed on.
- Anything that speaks Markdown can take your docs directly. A custom assistant, an internal script, a tool you are wiring up this afternoon. yourdomain.com/article-name.md and you have the text.
- Your writers change nothing. The Markdown is generated from the article you already wrote, so it cannot drift out of sync with the published page.
Why we built this
We decided last year that HelpDocs should be the knowledge layer for both humans and AI agents (check out our new website design over here), and then we kept shipping for the humans. Meanwhile every support team quietly started pointing an assistant at their docs, and the thing on the other end was reading our page furniture.
Agent readability is not an AI feature you buy. It is table stakes for a documentation platform in 2026, which is it's on every plan.
