When writing articles in HelpDocs, you can choose whether to write in What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) or HTML. By default, articles will start in the WYSIWYG mode.

When writing articles in HelpDocs you can choose whether to write in What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) or HTML. By default, articles start in WYSIWYG mode.
🌅 The HTML Editor is legacy and no longer being developed. We don't recommend using it. Instead, use an HTML Block, which give you the same flexibility without the downsides.
Changing the Editor Mode
This section is here for reference only. Since the HTML Editor is legacy, we recommend sticking with the WYSIWYG editor and HTML Blocks for anything custom.
- Head to your article
- Click the ⋯ More button at the top right
- Click Switch to HTML editor from the dropdown
- Read the prompt that pops up
Save any changes before switching modes to avoid losing work. Switching between modes might change content in unexpected ways, and since this is legacy functionality, it won't be improved going forward.
Prettifying in HTML Mode
If you do find yourself in the legacy HTML Editor, here's how to keep your code looking tidy.
- Make sure you're in HTML mode
- Click the
More button - Click Prettify HTML ✨
