Fancy yourself a bit of a night owl? Working on your Knowledge Base into the wee hours? Save your precious eyes by enabling dark mode in HelpDocs. It's an easy way to reduce eye strain when you're burning the midnight oil.

By default, HelpDocs sets your dark mode preference based on your device's system settings. This means if your computer is already set to dark mode, HelpDocs will match that preference automatically.

Changing Your Dark Mode Preference

Want to override your system settings and choose your own dark/light adventure? Here's how to take control:

  1. Head to your Profile dropdown in the top left
  2. Click Dark mode from the menu

That's it! Clicking this option will cycle through the available modes each time you select it 🔄

Available Dark Mode Options

You'll toggle between these three options:

  • System: HelpDocs adapts to your operating system preferences—switching automatically when your device changes
  • Dark mode: Always uses dark mode regardless of your system settings
  • Light mode: Always uses light mode regardless of your system settings
We recommend using the System option for the most consistent experience across all your apps. This way your Knowledge Base matches everything else on your screen!

The dark mode setting is tied to your personal profile—so you can set your own preference without affecting what other users see when they use HelpDocs.
